Brendan and I met on a dating app called ok cupid. I had been using the app and thinking to myself this is a waste of time, all the people I’ve talked to were either weird or just not worth my time. Then as I was about to delete the app all together, I decided to randomly type in vegetarian in the search bar.

Why you ask?

Well for two reasons, one being that I was getting tired of people telling me that being vegetarian is wrong. And two, cause I really wasn’t expecting to get what I was looking for.

However, I got EXACTLY what I was looking for. When I did that search, Brendan’s picture was the first one to come up. I looked at his pictures and could just see something genuine about him so I sent him a message. I was pleasantly surprised when he responded back. We connected instantly and talked the night away and made plans for our first date at Killer Vegan.

We sat and talked for like three hours and during that time listening to him, I thought to myself that this man is the exact person my mama told me would one day find me.

On our third date, I had Brendan come to Liberty House. He sat at the outside bar and made friends with my work family while I finished my shift. Once I was done I went to see him and asked how his food was and he said, “Look, Look what I’m doing this dating app, I don’t need it anymore I found my person”. He was so impressed with the Golden Corvina that he had and the fact that I was the Sous Chef and all the stories my Servers and bar tender had about me.

That night we made plans to go to the NJ State Fair on the Fourth of July. We had a BBQ at my house with my family then went to the fair. Once we got there at a jewelry stand he picked out this beautiful owl necklace and asked me to be his girlfriend, to which I said “YES!”

We were having a great time in Cape May. We spent the day doing a lot; we climbed to the top of the light house, climbed to the top of the WWII lookout tower, and walked through the Cape May Zoo in a thunderstorm. Later on the day we decided to go down to the beach for a swim and shells. I got out of the ocean and sat down next to him and he handed me a heart shaped paper, started to play Perfect by Ed Sheeran, then got down on one knee. When I unfolded the heart it said “ Will you marry me?” With tears and joy I said “YES!”

Then as we got back to the hotel I yelled out “WE’RE ENGAGED” to the world. The net day we come out of our hotel room to a “Congratulations” Banner on our window with pretty decorations placed there by some nice people who was celebrating a graduation.
